Easter Retreat 2020 – Online

April 9 @ 7:30 pm - April 13 @ 3:30 pm

Free

E-Vam Institute’s annual retreat is suitable for all levels of students and is a wonderful opportunity to deepen one’s practice. This year due to corona virus E-Vam will be running an online retreat where you can practice and participate in retreat from home. We will follow a retreat schedule and for the group practices, that normally take place in the gompa, we will gather together using video conferencing.

For the teachings we will be watching recordings of Traleg Rinpoche teaching on Integral Buddhism. Rinpoche gave these inspiring teachings in 2010 in the Blue Mountains (NSW). Making time to focus on listening to the dharma and practicing whilst on retreat is beneficial both for yourself and those around us. These teachings are particularly worth revisiting due to the skill in which Rinpoche demonstrates how to integrate buddhism into all aspects of our life.

The daily program includes Indo-Tibetan yoga and Pranayama sessions, shamatha and walking meditation and traditional ritual puja (chanting & singing) practices of Green Tara and Chenrezig.

What will you need to attend this online retreat?

  • A device that connects to a good internet signal (computer, phone, Ipad)

  • A space conducive for retreat

  • A minimum dedication of 2 days attendance

How will the retreat run?

The entire retreat will be conducted online using the platform Zoom. We endeavour to conduct a majority of the aspects of the retreat using the live conferencing aspect of the Zoom Communication Platform with a view to simulating an all-inclusive experience. Certain aspects such as the streaming of teachings will be conducted using webinar functionality of the platform. E-Vam Staff and Volunteers will run the event and will be available to retreatants for questions and technical support.

In line with our usual retreats, we encourage noble silence from waking until noon of each day. You may choose to continue the noble silence through the remainder of your day if you wish.

Retreatants will be provided with an online Retreat Pack. The Online Retreat Pack will include:
– digital copies of the prayers;
– digital copies of Green Tara and Chenrezig sadhanas;
– handouts from Traleg Rinpoche IX and Bokar Rinpoche on taking a mindful approach to retreat and Vajrayana Practice.

What is the cost?

Access to retreat is by donation.

We have removed fixed costings this year in light of the financial and employment insecurity faced by many people due to corona virus and social distancing measures.

Donations are an important support to E-Vam’s activities. If you are in the position to do so, our suggested donation is $59 per day ($41 for U35, $53 for concession and members). If you are not in a position to donate this amount, donate what you can afford.
